Lifestyle Profiling Determines Demand Data

Using ACTIVE, Ambulance Services are able to determine which locations to position ambulances for short periods of time in order to be close to demand.

It is essential for ambulance services to assess the right level of resources, optimise shift and rota configuration which requires extensive modelling of the demand and supply side of an ambulance service.  Once completed, it is essential for an ambulance services to use resource planning in the sustained delivery of an excellent ambulance service.

With 12 ambulance services in the UK now using ACTIVE, Yorkshire Ambulance Services recently challenged ACTIVE to complete a consultancy project for them.

ACTIVE’s consultancy team were challenged with providing a lifestyle profile including age and gender for key health conditions such as breathing problems.  ACTIVE were tasked with providing data that highlighted demand profiles at different spatial levels in order to see how conditions differed across geographical areas.

It is hoped that the resulting data will enable Yorkshire Ambulance to have a better understanding of the type of people suffering from specific health conditions and enable them to manage their demand more effectively and efficiently.  Furthermore, through additional lifestyle analysis, a more targeted approach to prevention activities can be undertaken.
