ACTIVE Supports KPMG With LSIS Tool
New national labour market information tool to help increase skills training amongst adults.
Managed by KPMG’s World Class Skills programme and approved by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), ACTIVE has developed an online application that supplies instant labour market information to every government funded further education provider in England using the electronic Labour Market Information system (eLMI). The tool will help exploit training opportunities by streamlining current processes and targeting resources into key areas, reducing time and wastage by simply clicking on an area on a map to instantly see the number and profile of businesses located within that catchment.
A key influence on the design of the system has been the Training Quality Standard (TQS) accreditation awarded for best practice in employer engagement. The eLMI tool is a single source of information that will support key areas of the accreditation such as intelligent market analysis, segmentation, review processes, performance measurement and clear evidence based decision making. Also included is a set of automated reporting functions that, at the touch of a button, produce labour market and customer information reports that can be presented in a graphical, tabular or text format. This function has been designed to aid with the planning, evaluation and auditing of activities.
Every LSC funded education provider can upload and map their existing data and compare and analyse it against the market to see if the courses and services on offer truly reflect the needs and demands of the local economy. Users have immediate access to over 1.5m regularly updated records including organisation name, address, first and last names of key contacts, a telephone number, standard industrial classification (SIC), number of employees, turnover and full business description. Over 6,000 users nationwide will have the ability to download research and map employer data.
ACTIVE were selected due to their ability to provide rapid application development as well as the high level of experience and understanding they have regarding the challenges within Further Education. Furthermore, the intelligence generated from the eLMI tool can be used to feed directly into the ACTIVE Total Solution Mapping (TSM) system already used by many further education organisations across the UK.
Andy Durman, Business Development Manager for Education at ACTIVE comments “I expect this system to have a direct and positive impact on the skills gap that currently exists in the UK. As providers refine their approach to employer engagement, responses will increase and more adults will benefit from skills training.”
