ACTIVE Helps With New Non Emergency Number

Derby City and Derby County PCT have recently worked with ACTIVE on a consultancy basis.  This piece is to look into the possibility of introducing a new non emergency urgent care number to work alongside the current NHS Direct service.  An initial pilot study across a number of regions has been planned, with the announcement of the  participating regions due to take place in December 2009.  It is hoped that the East Midlands region is one of those selected. 

In order to facilitate the more efficient routing these new 3DN calls coming in to the region, Derby City and Derbyshire County PCTs require geographic analysis of the East Midlands region using the following geographies: PCT, County, District, Postcode (the exact level to be defined) and STD code.  It is hoped that the final outputs will enable the routing of the call to the appropriate PCT (or lower geography) and to help identify any significant geographical inconsistencies between the location of the callers STD code and the geography to which the call should be routed.
