ACTIVE Selected by Combined PCTs in Hertfordshire
ACTIVE's TSM Chosen to Improve Health
The combined PCTs serving the population of Hertfordshire have entered into a three year licence agreement with ACTIVE Solutions Europe Ltd (ACTIVE) giving the PCTs access to ACTIVE’s Total Solution Mapping software suite.
West Hertfordshire PCT and North & East Hertfordshire PCT between them serve a population of 1.1m and manage an NHS budget of £1.4bn. With a business need to understand the population they serve in more detail, and to more effectively manage demand and plan the delivery of their services from a spatial and demographic perspective, the combined PCTs required a system that adopts an innovative approach to linking data geographically and producing relevant, timely information in the easiest and most accurate of formats. After reviewing the optional systems available, the decision to take Total Solution Mapping was based upon ease of use, speed, and openness in terms of the wide range of data with which it can connect, including Lifestyle data sets.
David Hodson, Head of IM&T for the combined PCTs said:
“We decided on a joint purchase of ACTIVE’s Total Solution Mapping (TSM) software, together with a lifestyle data set, to enable the two PCT’s to working on a combined strategy to improve the health of the population across Hertfordshire. TSM will enable us to quickly and easily manipulate various data so that we can make greater progress in our social marketing insight and analysis.”
Significant returns are expected on the investment over the three year licence life. These returns will come from effectiveness in service delivery, a better match of resources and facilities against case loads, and a focus on real and measurable returns arising from social marketing which can now directly impact demand, and manage out inappropriate uses of services.
Ash Ahmad, ACTIVE’s Business Development Manager for the NHS said “Social Marketing offers so much opportunity for NHS organisations to take control of public attitudes to health – both in terms of self help, and in terms of correct use of front line services. We very much look forward to working with the progressive thinkers in Herts and seeing them maximise their return on investment in Total Solution Mapping. Moreover, we expect to see measurable improvements in the match between Health Services and health needs.”
