Who will pay for FE students in 2010/2011?

Calculate the potential gaps in funding

As the funding for 16-18 learners in FE is soon to shift from the Learning and Skills Council to individual local authorities ACTIVE have launched a service that will enable every FE college to assess the risk of a potential gap  in education funding.

It is still unclear as to how this new approach will be administered and this causes two key concerns:

  • The limited understanding in local authorities of how colleges work, due to a traditional focus on schools.
  • A lack of clarity in whether the funding will follow learners across local authority borders or if local authorities will fund colleges in their area despite where the learner comes from.

These points have the potential to cause a significant hole in funding and the first step to addressing them is to first understand exactly where your learners come from.

ACTIVE specialises in geographical and learner data analysis and can help you address these problems by quantifying the potential impact of a gap in funding, and identifying the key local authorities to engage with to resolve these problems.

If you are interested in finding out more about the impact that changes in funding could bring to your college or to receive a sample report please use the details provided on this web page.
