Coming Soon: OPTIMISE
Encouraging Effective & Efficient Community Based Workers
Designed to assist the move to PbR for community midwifery services by April 2010, OPTIMISE helps senior managers to report progress against key performance indicators and enables powerful COST v INCOME analysis. ACTIVE has designed OPTIMISE in partnership with clinicians and senior management at the The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E). With OPTIMISE, community staff can quickly obtain the information they need to easily manage their workload; spending more time with patients and less time travelling.
With a focus on the green agenda to ensure NHS trusts reduce the amount of paperwork required, the reduction of mileage claims may result in a reduction of travel expenses. Having the ability to route plan through OPTIMISE also ensures any new staff members will feel confident in travelling around their coverage area knowing their appointments have been optimised to save their time to care for their patients.
The ability to manage diaries online ensures that all high risk lone worker appointments will be flagged to ensure the correct procedures are followed. Senior managers will easily be able to monitor targets and focus on achieving the income goals for the trust and providing a robust evidence base for more investment into community based services.
Anthony Martin from RD&E said, "We have been working with ACTIVE to ensure we have standard procedures in recording appointments and activity conducted by our community midwives, OPTIMISE will ensure we can report on key statistics which we previously have not been able to generate. The strong evidence base that will be generated through the system ensures clinical activity and associated financial data will be captured accurately. We have been impressed by ACTIVE's ability to react to the suggestions made by clinicians to ensure we are getting a complete system to meet our needs."

OPTIMISE has the flexibility to be adapted for midwives, district nurses, mental health workers and any other mobile clinicians. ACTIVE will be hosting regional launch events prior to year end. To ensure your attendance please register your interest here.
