Productivity is the theme of the day

ACTIVE Health User Group

Representatives from 11 NHS organisations attended the Health User Group at the Lightbox Gallery in Woking on Wednesday.

The day kicked off with a presentation looking at emergency admissions analysis and how this can help to tackle demand from Lyndsey Wood, ACTIVE Senior Consultant.

Christine Couchman from Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board then shared her case study on how Total Solutions Mapping (TSM) had been used to provide a comprehensive understanding of chronic conditions and chronic conditions management across Wales.

After a short break Ash Ahmad, ACTIVE Business Development Manager for Health, presented on behalf of Zita Martinez from the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust. In the presentation that Zita provided she highlighted the need for effective community services management and how this will be achieved through the new OPTIMISE tool which was developed in partnership with her NHS Trust.

Ed Rackstraw, ACTIVE Training and Development Manager, then went through the support services and upgrade features focussing on the TSM update due in September.

After lunch and a look around the gallery, the afternoon session took the form of a social marketing workshop. Some interesting discussions took place around the importance of social marketing and how it vital it is to achieve sustainable behavioural change.

As part of the workshop the day ended with a demonstration from Lyndsey on how TSM could be used to improve smoking cessation services.

With a government white paper looming and the protection of NHS funds in question, productivity and how best to achieve it was the hot topic of the day.
