Day 1

Detailed view of the production of geographic and demographic management information, covering the functions of ACTIVE software and enabling the user to produce detailed data-rich maps.

• Map Layers and Manipulation.
• Key site database design, import and manipulation.
• Data quality and database design.
• Data import.
• Manipulating the Graphical Query Writer.
• Sizing, sorting and comparing Point Map.
• Exporting and printing maps and data sets.

Day 2

Intended to be a more detailed study of the use of ACTIVE software, to explore the analysis and manipulation of data. The ability to count data into wards and user-defined boundaries is also covered. Use all the functions of ACTIVE mapping and data analysis software.

• Boundaries - creation and manipulation.
• Boundary Calculation and Thematic Function.
• Census data and queries.
• Comparison of census data.
• Comparison of Point and Census Data.
• The Auto-grid feature.
• Census Area Groups - creation and management.
• Online Help.

Day 3

Give a detailed view of the production of Travel Time Boundaries, covering the functions of ACTIVE software and enabling the user, to produce detailed boundaries, in order to analyse related data.

• Use all the functions of ACTIVE Travel Time Boundaries software.
• Understand how to create rule sets for the complete road network.
• Create, manipulate and export Travel Time Boundaries for data analysis.
• Work through relevant training exercises based on the system functions.

Pre-requisites

A basic understanding of data collection and storage will be helpful but is not essential. No previous knowledge of ACTIVE or geographic information is needed.

We ask course attendees to provide us with details of their level of IT skills beforehand so we can tune the course accordingly.
